The BRUTAL Execution Of Thomas Seymour

The Seymour Family during the Tudor period were incredible influential. Jane Seymour became Henry VIII's third wife, and would later be the wife who would give him the son he quested after, Edward VI. Her brother's were incredible important too, Thomas and Edward. It is this sibling rivalry that led to the death of one of these influential Tudor politicians and brothers.

Thomas Seymour was incredibly jealous following the death of Henry VIII, that his brother Edward had been named Lord Protector of England and was basically ruling England as Edward VI the boy king was too young to rule. He became obsessed with the fact his brother was basically acting as King, and he began to plot against him. Thomas to further his position also married Henry VIII's sixth wife Catherine Parr, a move which many deemed to be too soon after Henry's death.

Following Catherine's death, his attention turned to her daughter in-law Elizabeth, however Thomas became beside himself with jealousy. One night he was caught breaking into Edward VI's household, and was caught with a loaded pistol after he had shot one of the King's dogs. It was assumed that Thomas planned to kidnap the young King and take him under his custody. He was then imprisoned in the Tower of London, and was sentenced to death having being accused of 33 counts crimes. His own brother Edward Seymour even signed his death warrant.
