This webinar was held on 26 March by Prof. Alaa El Ghoneimi (Pedaitric Urologist), Prof. Julien Hogan (Pediatric Nephrologist) and Dr. Matthieu Peycelon (Pediatric Urologist), who all work at University Hospital Robert-Debré (APHP) in Paris, France.

Pediatric renal transplantation in patients with posterior urethral valves (PUV) presents unique challenges requiring a multidisciplinary approach. This webinar began with a brief epidemiological overview of PUV-related kidney disease, emphasizing its impact on renal function and transplantation outcomes.
The session was divided into three key aspects:
1. Nephrologist’s Perspective & Advances in Immunology – Experts discussed recent immunological developments and the specific considerations when transplanting a child with uropathy, focusing on long-term graft survival and rejection risks.
2. Pre-transplant Bladder Preparation – Proper bladder conditioning is essential for optimal graft function. Strategies for bladder management, including urodynamic assessment and interventions, were highlighted.
3. Intraoperative Surgical Challenges – The session explored technical difficulties encountered during transplantation, such as vascular and ureteral anastomosis, and strategies to optimize surgical outcomes.
This webinar was designed for patients and families, pediatric nephrologists, urologists, and transplant surgeons seeking to enhance their knowledge of PUV-related renal transplantation.
