iPad Pro Subscription-Free RAW+JPG Workflow Using iCloud Photo Library and RAW Power

The holy grail: an iPad-only RAW+JPG workflow that doesn’t use subscription software.

This video looks at this great subscription-free photography workflow that lets you import RAW+JPG files from your camera into the Apple iCloud Photo Library.

The beauty of this approach is that you can optionally use your camera film simulation or picture profiles most of the time using the JPGs, but optionally jump in and switch to the RAW version when you want to. iCloud Photo Library syncs both versions of your image seamlessly to your devices.

I look at the interesting way Fujifilm X-Trans sensors work compared to normal sensors too and reveal the amazing power that RAW Power offers when working with your RAW files on your iPad.

It turns out iCould Photo Library has really great support for RAW+JPG files, naturally using the JPG as the default image and then allowing access to the RAW version on demand on any of your devices.

The software in the workflow is the amazing app called RAW Power by Gentlemen Coders:

This app leverages the Apple RAW processing engine and makes it available to images in your iCloud Photo Library on your iPad and your Mac. It doesn’t use a subscription model which makes it a great alternative to Lightroom if, like me, you want a RAW workflow for family videos rather than professional use.
