Mega Man 2 ※ Cracking Videogame Passwords S1e1

In the advent of 1990 I played NES games a lot. Knowing nothing about programming but being geekish by nature, I obsessed over cracking the password systems in those games. In this series we will study some of these systems.

Fun fact: The minimum number of grid cells that could encode all possible states supported by the game's password scheme is eleven: ceil(log2(1280)). Any more would be for redundancy.
