Researchers at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital are conducting a massive, 18,000-person trial seeking answers to the question of whether cocoa is good for you. The COSMOS trial, which is also investigating the potential anti-cancer properties of multivitamins, is still signing up participants age 60 and over. It is examining whether flavanols in cocoa can protect against conditions like heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes.
