Trap Lake and Beyond (2 Day, 1 Night Backpacking Trip)

A tumultuous thunder storm rolled through the Pacific Northwest this past weekend. Rain and more thunder are predicted for the remainder of the week. There was a one-day window (Monday) when we were able to squeeze in a hike to Trap Lake and camp one night. As predicted, the rain returned Tuesday as we packed up and hiked out.

Thunder and lightning are often associated with God’s voice. Verses in the Bible that talk about God being in the thunder or sounding like thunder are reminders that God is the Creator and he longs to communicate with us. As pointed out in the second Bible verse above from 1 Kings, God also speaks in a soothing and quiet voice. Next time you hear thunder, think about how God speaks to you: in a mighty and powerful "voice" like thunder on the mountain or in a gentle whisper?
