বাংলাদেশের যশোর জেলার ঝিকরগাছার একটি এলাকা বিখ্যাত হয়ে উঠেছে ফুল চাষের কারণে। গদখালী নামের ওই গ্রাম ও আশপাশের হাজার হাজার একর জমিতে বছর জুড়ে উৎপাদন হচ্ছে দেশী বিদেশী নানা জাতের ফুল যার বার্ষিক বাজারমূল্য প্রায় দেড় হাজার কোটি টাকা। এই গ্রামের ফুল সারাদেশ তো বটেই, যাচ্ছে বিদেশেও।
১৯৮২ সালে প্রথম ঝিকরগাছা উপজেলার গদখালিতে বাণিজ্যিকভাবে ফুল চাষ শুরু হয়। এখন দু’টি থানার আশপাশের ৯০টি গ্রামে ফুল চাষ করা হয়।

ঝিকরগাছা, শার্শা ছাড়াও যশোরের মনিরামপুর, কেশবপুরেও বাণিজ্যিকভাবে ফুলের চাষ হচ্ছে। প্রায় সাড়ে চার হাজার বিঘা জমিতে স্থানীয় কৃষকরা ফুল চাষ করে থাকেন। প্রতি বছর কোটি কোটি টাকার ফুল উৎপাদন হয় এই গদখালিতে। প্রথম দিকে বছরের নির্দিষ্ট কয়েক মাসে ফুল চাষ হলেও এখন প্রায় সারা বছরই ফুল চাষ হয়ে থাকে। দেশের ৭০-৭৫ ভাগ ফুলের চাহিদা পূরণ হয়ে থাকে যশোরের ফুল থেকে। যশোরের জেলার গদখালী ইউনিয়নের পানিসারা, হাড়িয়া, কৃষ্ণচন্দ্রপুর, পটুয়াপাড়া, সৈয়দপাড়া, মাটিকুমড়া, বাইসা, কাউরা ও ফুলিয়া গ্রামের প্রতিটি মাঠেই শত শত বিঘা জমি নিয়ে গাঁদা, গোলাপ, গ্লাডিওলাস, রজনীগন্ধা, জারবেরা, কসমস, ডেইজি জিপসি, ডালিয়া, চন্দ্রমল্লিকাসহ আরো বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির ফুলের চাষ হয়। এখানকার জারবেরার মান চায়নার চেয়েও ভালো। আর গ্লাডিওলাস ও রজনীগন্ধার মান ভারতের চেয়েও উন্নত মানের।
