Date and Time: Saturday, 17th February, 10:30 am
Venue: Muktabai and Sopan Dev Mandir, Siddheshwar Colony, Saswad
Gautam was invited by Shri Trigun Gosavi, the chief trustee of Sant Sopandeo Maharaj Samadhi Sansthan, Saswad, to address a satsang at Sopandeo Sanjeevan Samadhi Mandir and the Sant Muktabai Shrine, about an hour’s drive from Pune.
Sopandeo and Muktabai (along with Nivruttinath) were the siblings of Sant Dnyaneshwar (1275–1296), the renowned thirteenth-century Indian Marathi saint, poet, philosopher and yogi of the Nath and Varkari traditions. In his short life of twenty-one years, Sant Dnyaneshwar authored the Dnyaneshwari (a commentary on the Bhagavad Gita) and Amrutanubhav, the oldest surviving literary works in the Marathi language. Their ideas reflect the Advaita Vedanta philosophy, with an emphasis on Jnana Yoga as well as bhakti towards Vithoba, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
Nivruttinath was the eldest sibling, and the other three took Him to be their guru. He, Dnyaneshwar, Sopandeo and Muktabai are considered to be the incarnations of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, Lord Brahma and Adi Shakti respectively. Nivruttinath was initiated by the Nav Nath Gahaninath, who, in turn, was the disciple of Gorakhnath.
