Edward Taylor performs the second of the Three Pieces dating from 1905 by Frank Bridge, the Adagio in E. The work is in three sections, the first is a four-voice fugue which is full of expression, played on the strings and flutes, the second develops the theme and is a gigantic crescendo until the climax on the tutti, dying away again into the third section, the original tune accompanied by harmony firstly on the flute, then the viol. The piece ends in a restful manner. Performed on the organ of Carlisle Cathedral.
