Boca Grande, Florida - Aftermath of Hurricane Helene !!

SW Florida woke up to 76 degrees. This video was taken 5 days after Hurricane Helene hit the area. The aftermath of Hurricane Helene has left many in the SW Florida area in cleanup mode. Boca Grande access was prohibited until they could get the standing water off of the main road in and out of the island.

Well this morning, I was able to venture over and get a look for myself. I was unable to get to the tip of the island but was able to see a lot. This video is a bit longer but I hope you do watch all the way to the end so that you can truly take in what the wind and water can do to an area. Also, like and share this video so that others get to see it.

The water was calm but as you can see from the video the beach area has a lot of debris. Just a sight to see.

Even though you shouldn't be swimming in the water, a few people were out there. Also, many different kinds of sea shells were everywhere but a lot of them had living creatures in them. Those should be put back into the water and not removed.

I did take a minute toward the end of the island to stop and watch the birds. Just needed that peaceful moment.

The South Beach Restaurant appears to have some damaged outside. I did not see any cars in the parking lot so I am assuming at this time it is closed. You will also see the wall outside of the restaurant that appears to have had heavy damage. The area was roped off so I was unable to get on top of it to tape.

I also taped my route off of the island so that you can get a picture of what the town looks like, where the water covered the roads and the sand that was washed up everywhere. The crews working have done a great job at getting the island to where it is today in just 5 days after the storm.
