I admire Ishiguro because I too grew up as a third-culture kid, having parents that taught me eastern values while each day stepping out into a western world. His works prove to me that it doesn't matter what your origins are and that writing a powerful work of fiction can transcend cultures and customs and reveal the universal nature of being human.
