Mai Kivelä (MP, Left Alliance Party, Finland) presented 'Parliamentary Efforts to Establish Constitutional Animal Rights' at our Centre's European Animal Rights Law Conference 2025.

Mai Kivelä is a Finnish Member of Parliament and a City Councillor in Helsinki in the Left alliance. She has a Master's degree in Environment and Development from King's College London. Kivelä has an extensive background in political activism, having joined Greenpeace at the age of only nine. Before politics she worked inter alia as the Executive Director of Animalia, a major Finnish animal rights organisation, and held multiple roles within Greenpeace for a total of seven years.
