We’ve heard of and even felt the impacts of stereotypes based on our age, but what about age meta-stereotypes? Knowingly or unknowingly, we all have created age meta-stereotypes, or our perceived notions of our stereotypes. So, whether you’re known as a “snowflake millennial” or “the Karen who wants to speak to the manager,” join Reshma as she tells us what exactly age meta-stereotyping is, its impacts, and the steps needed to remedy this harmful practice in her talk, “OK Boomer!”. Reshma interacts closely with people of all ages—elementary schoolers as Founder of Spark Girls into STEM, high schoolers as Speech and Debate treasurer, and senior residents as a volunteer at her local retirement home—and has learned that this practice is not uncommon. As a recent graduate from Upper St. Clair high school, she will be attending Georgia Tech this coming fall to study Computer Science.
