Shuttleworth Collection Fly Navy 2022 | The finale

The 'Fly Navy' air show returned to Old Warden - the home of the Shuttleworth Collection - after a four year absence and allowed a large host of visiting aircraft to take part.

The finale of the show usually involves a mini 'balbo' flypast featuring several naval aircraft. This year's finale featured the Grumman F8F Bearcat and the Goodyear FG-1D Corsair as well as the Supermarine Seafire XVII, the collection's Hawker Sea Hurricane and their Supermarine Spitfire Mark V. (I believe the mark fives were used as the first Spitfires converted to naval specifications before later becoming known as the Seafire). It was hoped for the Grumman Wildcat to be involved as part of The Fighter Collection's three-ship, and as seen in the video, it was operating from Old Warden, but sadly this suffered a little technical 'snag' shortly after take-off and so headed back to its base at Duxford.
