What a ride. This level has been in the background of so many things I’ve accomplished since I started. UNKNOWN first peaked my interest when one of my friends started playing it on a whim and got the level in three runs incredibly quickly. I wasn’t so fast obviously, but I was able to get 60-100 around that time, a very easy run compared to the rest of the level. A bit later I announced I was going for UNKNOWN as my 50th extreme demon, and got 54%, 58%, and then a small fluke to 73%, followed by 2 more fails at 73 without a new best. A bit later, I was able to fluke the rest of the ship and the wave after to get a best of 86%, dying at the click directly before the last wave. At this point I was sure I could beat it with enough time, but Checked Steam’s rate and knowing that might be the my only chance ever to get first victor on a list demon, I took it. Checked Steam caused me such a burnout that I didn’t beat another list demon until a month ago, with Knights of Thunder and Omega Interface. Following that, it was back to UNKNOWN. Relearned the level and got 94% as my first last wave death pretty quickly, followed by another 94% and a 97% the next day. Later that week, I got another 97% and dropped the level. Two days ago after finally completing the wiener, a level that had sat on my progress list for over a year, I decided to take another shot. I had gotten 90% from a random session about a week before, but my first real day back was rough, ending with a best of 71% after hours of playing. Today was pretty much the same, except I got 94% very quickly before having an insane struggle at the ship, dying there 13 times without passing it once. I finally managed to pass the ship after getting 23-100, with 94% again. I kept going, managed to get back one more time, and finally passed the last jump. I struggled so hard with this level, more than I ever have. Nothing has ever taken me CLOSE to 100k attempts before this, but that’s also the nature of the level’s balancing, considering I had 25k deaths to the 0% jump alone.
