Understanding Light Flicker in Video (…shutter angle, slow motion video)

Avoiding flicker while shooting high-speed (slow motion) video under artificial lighting, or shooting in a foreign country can be a challenge. I knew HOW, but not WHY. Now I know why, and I want to share it with you.
