Описание к видео MY FATHER’S SHADOW | Official Trailer | In Cinemas 19th September

My Father’s Shadow is coming home to Nigerian cinemas on the 19th of September.

The highly anticipated feature debut by BAFTA-nominated director Akinola Davies Jr. will begin its global cinema rollout in Nigeria. It’s the first Nigerian feature to be selected for the Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival and was awarded a prestigious Caméra d’Or Special Mention. Written by his Grammy-winning brother Wale Davies and co-written by Davies Jr., the 2025 drama follows two young brothers, played by Godwin and Chibuike Marvellous Egbo and their estranged father, played by Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù on a one-day journey across Lagos in 1993.

The film will be distributed in Nigerian cinemas through FilmOne. This homecoming is a celebration of the incredible local talent that has catapulted the film to the global stage.

With Nigeria as its first market for wide theatrical release, My Father’s Shadow ushers in a new wave of Nigerian cinema. Its global critical acclaim indicates the world’s growing appetite for Nigerian stories and shows homegrown films can compete on the world stage without sacrificing their roots.

My Father’s Shadow was co-produced by award-winning Lagos-based production company Fatherland with Element Pictures and Crybaby Productions. It was co-financed by BBC Film and the BFI. Fremantle, Electric Theatre Collective and The Match Factory are also partners on the project.
