Hot tip 🔥 When wrapping rope with your chosen fibres it adds additional layers to its structure, whilst this adds to the aesthetic or your work (let’s admit!) it can be a pain in the butt to sew.
Cotton string is easy to avoid as you sew but silk, wool and frizz are a little trickier as they overlap repeatedly. If you apply a tight and dense wrap you will create a beautiful, but sometimes it seems an almost impenetrable surface.
By removing 1ply of the rope before you wrap it will make your structure a little easier to sew, easier to bend, lighter ship and to hang on your wall.
It will be softer so your tension will need to ease a little if you’ve never tried this technique- but it’s worth a go!

Steps: Cut rope to lengths || Remove your 1ply and pop to side || Hold both ends of the rope and gently pull them, stretching them out to make the remaining 2ply to reform its original structure || Tape.
