Описание к видео Preparing for Noche de Muertos 💀 Día de Muertos in Pátzcuaro (Part 1)

In today's travel Mexico video, we explore the iconic town of Pátzcuaro, Michoacán to see how this Pueblo Magico is preparing for Día de Muertos 2018! We also visit the island of Janitzio, where we have a chance to visit the cemetery. Pátzcuaro is becoming filled with orange marigolds, or cempasúchil flowers, sugar skulls, and other items for preparing all of the beautiful ofrendas in just a few days for Noche de Muertos 2018!

👉What Is Día De Muertos?👈

Día de Muertos is recognized by the UNESCO World Heritage Organization and is celebrated in Mexico in some places for an entire week, ending on November 2. This holiday honors dead loved ones with festivals and celebrations filled with food, drink, parties, and activities that loved ones enjoyed during life. During Día de Muertos, deceased loved ones are also a part of the community, awakened from their eternal sleep to share celebrations with family and friends. One of the most iconic symbols of Día de Muertos is without a doubt, the calaveras or skulls, which appear everywhere during the holiday. These calaveras are found all across Mexico during this time--in the form of sugar, chocolate, painting on faces and more.

Families of loved ones build ofrendas, or altars in homes and cemeteries. These altars are meant to welcome spirits back to their loved ones. They are loaded with things such as food, photos, candles, pan de muerto (bread of the dead), and other things the loved one enjoyed during life. Marigolds are the main flowers and are used to guide spirits to their altar. This is truly a celebration of the life of friends and family and is a very intimate, joyful time to remember those that have died.
