Treating anterior lens luxation without surgery | The Eye vet- Episode 65

Описание к видео Treating anterior lens luxation without surgery | The Eye vet- Episode 65

Vegas, a 14-year-old Cocker Spaniel was brought in with anterior lens luxation, a condition where his lens shifted in the front of the eye and posed the risk of secondary glaucoma, he needed help, but besides being an old patient Vegas had multiple systemic conditions which made him a high risk anesthetic candidate.
To avoid anesthetic risk we opted for manual couching—a non-surgical procedure that nudged his lens in the posterior segment.
Vegas also had a bothersome eyelid mass with was addressed at the same time.
Though couching is not the best treatment for luxated lenses but it was the best we could offer to Vegas after weighing pros and cons.
Choosing the right therapy to fit the need of the patient is where the expertise lies.
It's the little things that bring relief and preserve the golden moments in our senior pets' lives. 🐾🔬 #SeniorPetVision #LensLuxationAwareness #theeyevet#theeyevet #veterinarylife #vetlife #TheEyeVet #vetmed #vetophthalmology #veterinaryophthalmology #vetsofindia #vedmed #vetschool #EyeCareHeroes #PetHealth #EctopicCiliaAwarenes
