I'm so excited to share this atmosphere collection from Cine Gear Expo 2025. Having attended NAB for the first time in 2025, Cine Gear was the obvious next story-beat. This time, I wanted to do something special, so I built a few attempts at a V90 rig for a vertical anamorphic take on this year's events.
The first approach was too large and unwieldy for the potential crush of people attending, so I simplified and ordered more parts to make everything functional and essential, nothing more. For more info, I'll have 2 videos detailing how these rigs came together.
We had only 2 hours at Cine Gear, which we'll definitely change for 2026, but for this first go-around, I was impressed, especially coming off of NAB. Cine Gear is more informal, and the potential of running into industry giants is very high.
This, as well as the NAB video, serves as a lens test for the Blazar Remus "B" set. Again, we're using just 2 lenses, the 33mm and 85mm. The 1.5x Squeeze of the Remus line covers vertical and horizontal full-frame sensors in Open Gate.
For this outing, I've got the Z-Cam E2-F6, in V90, Open Gate, for a 1:1 desqueeze. Since the original frame is 6K, there's a ton of cropping options for 16:9 and 9:16 with deep focal depth, though tracking focus for far lengths is quite difficult in anamorphic, depending on your monitoring, ND levels, T/ stop, and exposure.
Special Thanks to Northwest Camera Co, Mid49, Mutiny, Xelmus, Nisi, Nanlite/Nanlux, Tiffen/Steadicam and many more we didn't get to cover.
