The Canadian Nurses Association led the creation of the revised Advanced Practice Nursing: A Pan-Canadian Framework. It aims to provide a common understanding of advanced practice among nurses, students, educators, policy-makers, researchers and other stakeholders. The framework includes new elements such as revised competencies, the impact and outcomes of advanced practice nursing, and strategies for successful implementation, integration and sustainability. In her current role as program lead, nursing practice and policy, at the CNA) Josette ensures research findings are incorporated into CNA’s recommendations for national health policy. Specifically, she holds overall responsibility for CNA’s advocacy work to ensure federal policies recognize, protect and advance the role of registered nurses, clinical nurse specialists and nurse practitioners. She led the creation of CNA’s updated Advanced Practice Nursing: A Pan-Canadian Framework, which is slated for official release in early 2019, and she has overseen the development of several other pan Canadian frameworks. Josette holds a master’s in education from the University of Ottawa and a master’s in nursing, specializing in gerontology, from the Université du Québec en Outaouais. She has completed the certification program in gerontology from CNA and the Advancing Health Leadership program from Royal Roads University in British Columbia.
