The group gave an overview about "The Role “Home Technology” Plays in Keeping Older Adults Safe, Secure, and Connected in Today's Changing World".

We use different forms of technology every day, consciously and unconsciously. Depending on our age, we are either comfortable using it or we aren't. With circumstances such as COVID changing how we live, work, and play - technology has accelerated itself to the forefront of our daily lives. So how has “HOME TECHNOLOGY” transformed the livable environment today? Some older adults use a home phone and over time transitioned to a cell phone, embracing the features it offered; communication at your fingertips no matter where you are. A home can be transformed overnight to provide security, safety, ease of use, and comfort to people of all ages and lifestyles. Applications like “ZOOM” or “WEBEX” have become mainstream to communicate with our family, friends, pharmacy, health care providers, and even food providers. Join us on a simulated “home technology” tour first, then join us in the home of octogenarians, J.T. and Emily, who downsized their home but upgraded their technology. They will inform you on the steps they took from discussion and floor planning to installation of new products or services, and the learning curves it took to adapt to their new living environment.
