The legislative sector held a Speaker's forum where all Speakers in the country, from the National Assembly to provincial legislatures met in East London last week. The meeting outlined core business programmes that the forum must complete before the end of the sixth term. The Forum emphasized the importance of collaboration between the national Parliament and provincial legislatures to strengthen the sector's oversight function and transformation agenda. One of the programs in the pipeline is to convene an international oversight summit in June, to review the sector's work as it nears the end of the term, with the aim of raising the oversight bar to finish the sixth term on a strong footing.
