Footage taken from Croyde Road headland today, overlooking Saunton Sands and Braunton Burrows where we observe the interesting activity going on as part of Exercise Polaris, a large-scale, multinational military exercise conducted by the French Navy and NATO allies.

Ships featured include:
L9015 FS Dixmude 🇫🇷
L9014 FS Tonnerre 🇫🇷
L51 Galicia 🇪🇸
A135 RFA Argus 🇬🇧
L9892 ITS San Giorgio 🇮🇹

We see landing craft heading up the estuary to meet the French amphibious assault ship and the Spanish ship deploying its own craft as part of the exercise as well as plenty of aerial activity with British Wildcat and Merlin helicopters patrolling the coastline and landing on the French ships, as well as a great treat of x2 French Eurocopter Tigers getting airborne in the afternoon to take up patrol duties over the dunes.

Certainly a very interesting few hours watching all this unfold this afternoon, with the exercise set to continue up to mid June.
