Swarna Gauri - PurePuja

Tomorrow, Bhadrapada Shukla Triteeya or September 12, Wednesday, is the day for the annual fiesta of Sri Swarna Gauri Vrat. The day is dedicated to the charming, fair and beautiful form of Goddess Parvati called Sri Swarna Gauri. Swarna in Sanskrit means Gold and hence the goddess Swarna Gauri has a gold complexion.

Goddess Gauri is believed to visit every household of married and unmarried women like any ordinary woman visits her parental house. She blesses the married women with a happy and peaceful married life and the unmarried women with a suitable bride.

An idol of Swarna Gauri is installed at an appropriate sport in the house, especially in a well-bedecked temporary shrine, and worshipped by women very early in the morning.

Exchange of Bagina among married women is one of the prominent practices in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
