Speaker Biography:
Dr. Julia Cope is a microbiologist and plant pathologist. While earning her Ph.D. at Texas A&M University, she focused on sediment and fermentation community sampling from areas such as Yellowstone National Park and Mono Lake. During her postdoctoral training she worked on human microbiome projects in the Texas Children's Microbiome Center at Texas Children's Hospital. She has also worked with the Alkek Center for Metagenomics and Microbiome Research at Baylor College of Medicine. She has spent many years in the microbiome services sector working with start-ups and large companies as they develop their microbiome platforms. Dr. Cope has experience in clinical trial support, study design, scientific interpretation, regulatory and quality compliance and has lent a reliably flexible role to hundreds of microbiome projects in industry including preclinical, clinical, and research projects with companies around the world.
