American Airlines and jetBlue launched their Northeast Alliance partnership last year with the aim of boosting each other's connectivity from and across the Northeast. Unfortunately, the alliance was recently hit with a lawsuit in September coming from the U.S. Department of Justice and six states. They argue that the alliance drives out competition and is in violation of antitrust law. Furthermore, American just cut 27 routes from their network, the vast majority being from the Northeast. Does this mean the Northeast Alliance is in trouble? I do my best to explain my take on the situation in this video!
