How to draw at an angle in Adobe Illustrator

With direct prefs, you can set and draw at any angle without having to rotate your artboard.

The panel has three customisable pre-set buttons for you to set recurring angles you work with. Just hold opt and click, enter your desired angle and these will be saved within the panel for next time.

👉 Now, when you draw, create shapes or add text, it’s being created at your set angle, preventing time spent rotating and reflecting objects!

👉 Whats cool, is when you nudge your object using your arrow keys, the increments also comply with the angle you’ve set. These keyboard increments can be changed, customised and saved for later, just like your angles above. (It’s not only the value that can be altered, if you change your documents unit of measure, DirectPefs will offer you different preset increment values!)

👉 The lowest section in the panel allows you to control your guides and grids visibility, lock and snap status. As you can see, your grid will also be at the angle you have selected, making it much easier to draw at an angle accurately, especially with snap to grid enabled!
