Описание к видео Beautiful medieval English town. Clare (subtitles).

Clare is Suffolk's smallest town, with population of about 2000 people according to 2011 census.
Despite its small size it is very pretty and definitely worth a visit. It is known for Clare Castle, Clare Priory.
Clare is first mentioned in Domesday Book of 1086 as 'Clara'
Clare Castle dates to the time of Norman Conquest of England in 1066
Most famous resident of Clare Castle was Elizabeth de Clare, King Edward's I granddaughter, who lived here from 1322 to 1360.
Town's most prosperous time was in 14th-15th centuries at the height of wool trade.
Clare Priory is one of England's oldest religious houses, founded in 1248 for Augustinian Friars. It was closed in 16th century same as the other catholic establishments. In 1951 Augistinian Friars purchased Clare Piory back.
