Learn how to build a mini hoop house (also known as a low tunnel) to help you extend your growing season. Mini hoop houses are essentially unheated miniature green houses and are made by covering hoops (metal or PVC) with a row cover (plastic or fabric) in order to create a micro-climate to protect the plants against the frost and wind damage.

When selecting your row cover, you need to consider the amount of frost protection needed. Plastic row covers are better for colder climates while fabric row covers are better for moderate climates.
