Furniture Industry has recognized that Vanilla ERP's are having functionality issues. It is hard to work with an out-of-the-box ERP System that lack furniture product configuration and furniture manufacturing processing specific know-how; moreover the shop floor control and management issues unique to the furniture manufacturing industry are significant. Finding an ERP system, which addresses the idiosyncratic nature of furniture manufacturing, is not easily accomplished in a vanilla ERP. Despite claims, promises, and elements for success, few ERP vendors are comprehensive in providing the full spectrum of needed functionality."
In this project I have identified the following critical system supported functionalities and requirements for its newly being selected ERP solution
• A system generated BOMs and routings for configured products.
• An MRP system that generates production schedules and handles the parallel make to stock and make to order mixed inventory and assembly models.
• Automatic yielding for finished goods and BOM components/ingredients.
• Where used part and mass replace capabilities.
• System generated work orders for make to order environments.
• Handling Pick List Scheduling per Shop Order or per operation.
• Fully attributed inventory from order entry through production and shipping.
• Online order processing by exploding the multi-level BOM, reviewing BOM stocking levels, and production space.
• Online messaging for production managers on plant floor exceptions.
• Ability to calculate and track costs per product line and project
• A rich inventory control and management
