Chicago's South Works was once a thriving steel mill that employed 20,000 people. But in early 90s, it closed, leaving economic devastation in it's wake, and a 600 acre emtry site on Chicago's Southeast side. For decades, various redevelpment proposals have come and gone. The latest is a proposal for a quantum computing hub, potentially the largest in the United States. But is quantum computing finally the thing that returns South Works to it's former glory?
