This is an excerpt from the keynote speech of Sir Francis JACOBS, Professor of Law and Jean Monnet Professor at King's College London, UK, f. Advocate General at the European Court of Justice (1988-2006), during the international e-Conference “EU Values, Diversity and Intercultural Dialogue: Enhancing the debate” (21-23 April 2021), co-organized by the Jean Monnet Project EU VaDis with the Hellenic Association for European Law (HAEL), in collaboration with the Center for Research on Democracy and Law, and with the support of the European Parliament Liaison Office in Greece.

Professor Jacobs honoured us by accepting our invitation to give the keynote speech for which he chose the title "The EU and the rule of law: recent developments and current prospects". His speech took place on Wednesday, April 21st, as a part of the Opening Session of the e-Conference.
