If the farmers survive, the country will survive; the crisis of the peasants is the crisis of the entire population, says Lucky Akter in Dhaka. A former student activist, she works full-time as a central executive member of the Bangladesh Krishak Samity - the Bangladesh Peasants Union, the oldest and largest peasant organisation in the country. She is also a central member of the Communist Party of Bangladesh. Her extempore song in Bangla reiterates a resolve to organise peasants to get their rights.
