Hammond Cane (One Day Build)

Austin and Scott build Hammond's iconic cane from Jurassic Park. This was a one day build from scratch, from shaping the cane, to molding the amber egg, and finishing with the paint work. Austin had completed several of these canes in the past and had even a done a small run of the amber eggs for the members on the RPF prior to making this video, but when a friend told him that he wanted one as a gift for his wife, Austin decided that it would make a great One Day Build! Scott joined in and everything fell into place. This is truly one of those holy grail type props, it has to be done justice, and can't just be slapped together. Despite the fact that a drill press had to be used in lieu of a proper lath, great care was taken to give the prop an authentic feel, though un shown in this video Austin and Scott have studied this prop in detail, and spent some time perfecting the process for casting the amber eggs which are the major focal point of this prop. Air brushing and weathering treatments were also developed during Austin's prior builds of the hammond cane. So grab your cryocan and follow along!
