Zahavi seeks clarity on third-party ownership

Pini Zahavi was once described as football's only "super agent" and attracted criticism for his involvement in the transfers of Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano to West Ham in 2008.

More recent transfer controversies like Oscar's move to Chelsea have put the issue back under the spotlight. Zahavi explains why he's chosen this moment to speak out.

"I believe this is a very important subject. The issue of third party - we call it third party - but economic rights is dramatic for the future of world football. I believe that this panel will create some change of thoughts with the politicians running world football."

And Zahavi believes the practice extends far beyond clubs in Brazil.

"Look at Porto - Porto is overflowing with money, without the investors there is no Porto. Porto won the Champions League with these players. I'm not talking about English football because the way they are running it is also [third party ownership]. You take the Championship clubs. They are sponsoring players from all over the clubs so it's not third party? It's also third party."

The Israeli has transferred players like Rio Ferdinand and been involved in Roman Abramovich's takeover at Chelsea. He will hope that means his opinion carries weight with the governors of world football.
