Wooden Speargun -Part-11 The Spool - NO LATHE! - Line Reel Part- 4

On this video you will see how I used a very little Drill Press Machine converted into a kind of Milling Machine that can turn round pieces like a metal turning lathe.
This is part-11 on how to make a Wooden Speargun and the fourth video showing step by step how to make a Stainless Steel Vertical Speargun Line Reel.
It´s very simple to do but it requires lots of patience and some ingenuity. By using some common tools like metal drills to make the cutting tools to turn the homemade speargun line reel spool and also to make the cutting tools to mill the decorative openings on the sides of the Diy reels spools.
In these videos you can see step by step the construction of the homemade Line Reels for the two homemade wooden superguns that I’m building. To make these DIY speargun line reels I use 316 grade stainless steel for the metal parts (frame, pins, screws) and nylon for the fishing reel spool, the homemade speargun line reel tension drag knob and the homemade speargun line reel handle knob.
This project was first designed in 3D in aa CAD program “google Sketchup”, the tools used to make these speargun line reels are just common garage shop tools, one of those tools is a very small drill press machine that I converted to a “kind of milling machine” by mounting a x, y slide cross table on it, it not as efficient as a real turning lathe but it gets the job done, especially when turning nylon parts or other soft materials.
