Kristoffer Helle - Winger - Miles Away - Bass

I remember when I first heard this song on MTV back in 1990. It was on the US Top 20 on Sunday nights and that was my favorite show cause they played a lot of music that wasn’t playing on MTV Europe at the time. The next week I went to the record store and bought the single and then the album, In the Heart of the Young and that is still one of my favorite albums. I think that is a big misconception that Winger just were another hair band. I don’t consider them a hair band at all, most of their material is what I want to call progressive rock.

The song is written by keyboardist/guitarist Paul Taylor. In my opinion Kip Winger is one of the most underrated bass players out there. He always plays what’s best for the song but you can hear that he is able to do so much more. I’ve tried to play pretty much as he does on this one cause I think it’s a brilliant bass part and the playing is really less is more.
