TOTOMOXTLE - Biomaterial made from Mexican heirloom Corn husks.

Описание к видео TOTOMOXTLE - Biomaterial made from Mexican heirloom Corn husks.

This is the story behind Totomoxtle a new ecological material made with the husks of endangered heirloom corns from Mexico that are on the brink of extinction.

But this project goes far beyond simply aesthetics. Totomoxtle focuses on regenerating traditional agricultural practices in Mexico, and creating a new craft that generates income for impoverished farmers and promotes the preservation of biodiversity for future food security.

This material is creating employment for women, reintroducing native varieties of corn and increasing biodiversity. This is a project started by designer Fernando Laposse in collaboration with an indigenous community and the world's largest corn seed bank.
