Alberta Premier Danielle Smith announces re-indexing of financial benefits – November 28, 2022

In Edmonton, Danielle Smith (premier of Alberta) announces more details about her government’s plans to re-index financial benefit programs for inflation. Smith announced the plan during an address to the province on November 22, in which she outlined several steps to provide financial relief to Albertans amid the ongoing affordability crisis. Also participating in the announcement are provincial ministers Jeremy Nixon (seniors, community and social services) and Matt Jones (affordability and utilities), as well as Leah McRorie (a recipient of the province’s Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped), Joe Bowen-Eyre (CEO of The Alex, a non-profit health and social services organization), Karen McDonald (executive director of Sage Seniors Association), and Karen Olivier (CEO of Closer to Home Community Services).
