Rhythm Roulette: Beat Butcha | Mass Appeal

Описание к видео Rhythm Roulette: Beat Butcha | Mass Appeal

It's always entertaining to watch marquee production talent whip up impromptu instrumentals in episodes of "Rhythm Roulette," but an underrated aspect of our series is how much of a challenge it can pose. You never know what you're going to pull out of the crates when you're blindfolded at the record store-and the results aren't always optimal.

Herein lies the beauty of "Rhythm Roulette,' and Beat Butcha's efforts in our latest episode. After blindly sifting through tons of records, Butcha emerged with "Midnight Energy" by Mantus-which "looks like it's going to be some sort of disco shit"-Raphael Saadiq's "Instant Vintage"-a gospel record that Butcha admitted would be a tough sample, despite its likely 'dopeness'-and The Dells' "There Is," the record most likely to contain 'the heat,' according to the producer himself.

Producing records for grimy street poets like Prodigy, Lloyd Banks, Jadakiss and Sean Price during his career, Beat Butcha may not have deep experience dabbling in disco and gospel. But you wouldn't know it by the way he whipped this track up. Enjoy the latest "Rhythm Roulette" above.
