Jack Hobbs The World Famous Cricketer (1932)

Introductory intertitle reads: "There is hardly a soul in the British Empire who does not know of England's greatest Cricketer... Jack Hobbs."



Nice opening shot which is a C/U of Jack's feet slowly panning up - he wears cricket whites, shin pads and holds a cricket bat. He smiles. C/U of him smiling at the camera.



M/S of Jack who demonstrates how he holds his bat. He describes his technique to the camera. Jack then demonstrates his batting technique, again describing what he is doing. He then says he will show us a few strokes but if we don't mind, he will leave it to someone else to describe them.



Intertitle reads: "Now, A.E. Lawton, former Derbyshire Cricket Captain, will explain 'Jack's' strokes filmed by our ordinary and slow motion Cameras."



Various shots of Jack's batting techniques - some in slow motion. A.E. Lawton describes Jack's footwork and batting style.



A ball hits the wicket and Jack leaves the field. Film ends with intertitle: "That was a beauty, and 'Jack' will be 'out' until he re-appears here in the "Pictorial" next week."
