This single father's struggle for housing pushed him out of Boston, Massachusetts

James Berger checked into a Braintree, Massachusetts hotel with his 9-year-old daughter last fall out of desperation after a relative they were living with in Boston was evicted.

The family's plight is hardly unique. Across the state, 20,000 students experience homelessness — about 4,000 of those students live in Boston. Here's what led this family to leave Massachusetts in order to find stable housing.
