Kyrie Irving - Fantastic Finisher

Kyrie Irving is frightening. His handles are arguably the best in the league (at worst, he’s in the top 3), he can create off the dribble, and he’s a scorching sharpshooter. However, his best skill, BY FAR, is his ability to finish around the basket. He’s got everything it takes to be elite at the rim. Deceptiveness and Daring. Focus and Finesse. Composure and creativity. Balance and brilliance.

The up & under, the twisting reverse, a Kyridiculous amount of hang time, the presence of mind to use the rim to shield from a shot blocker. Whatever way you want the ball put in, Uncle Drew can get that done for you. He seems to have an innate understanding of english at the rim, but truth be told, you can find videos out there about him talking about the work he puts in. Using the Mikan drill, he figures out finishes. He practices every manner of spinning the ball, from EVERY angle, in order to be prepared for anything. His work with Micah Lancaster allowed him to expand his already absurd arsenal. You see, he isn’t just getting the ball and throwing it up. You certainly don’t get to be the MVP of a World Cup that featured Anthony Davis, Steph Curry, and the Gasol brothers (playing for the host Spain) by doing that.

Footwork. Moves. Counters. Stopping on a dime. Contorting in midair. Kyrie’s finishing mastery is less magic and more method. Yes, he’s fantastic, and yes, he finishes with a flourish, but he is fundamentals first. His preparation paves the way for the excellence we see every time he plays. He made third team All-NBA this past season and he’s only 23 years old. He’s steadily improving every aspect of his game, especially given what kind of defensive effort we saw out of him before his season ended in Oracle. He has been and will continue to be a nightmare for opposing defenses. Kyrie’s ceiling is like his ability around the rim; you think you know what can happen, but the possibilities are endless.

I should say this isn't comprehensive. These are all from the past season and I know that his first few years were highlight filled, but I wanted to focus on the 2014-2015 campaign.
