Hypercapnic (type 2) respiratory failure explained with cartoons!

Описание к видео Hypercapnic (type 2) respiratory failure explained with cartoons!

In this video we’ll run through some of the basic physiology and pathophysiology of hypercapnic respiratory failure, and type two respiratory failure, using some simple (and slightly naff) cartoons to help illustrate and simplify the underlying concept.

We will look at how chemoreceptors, the brainstem and the lungs work together to regulate carbon dioxide. How drugs or Trauma can suppress the brain's respiratory centres, leading to hypercapnia. How neuromuscular diseases and fatigue of the respiratory muscles can lead to elevated blood CO2 levels. We’ll also briefly look at how hypercapnia may be managed by treating underlying courses and via mechanical support (invasive ventilation and BiPAP).

Great books, but maybe a bit advanced for some learners who are still getting to grips with the basics.
