SWITZERLAND SAVED MY LIFE PART 1 | WHY SWITZERLAND, BUSINESS CLASS FLIGHT, GENEVA HOTEL TOUR

For much of 2023 I found myself in a dark space , I'd just lost one of my oldest and best friends suddenly at the end of 2022. I was truly at a loss because I'd never dealt with the sudden death of a close friend and really had not grasped how deeply this would affect my psyche. Sure, I plodded through my work on my news channel (@djrichieskye), made the requisite television appearances when necessary, published my first fiction novel (The Wickdest Wives: Desiree's Desire), got my Real Estate License and managed to travel here and there. But no matter what I couldn't seem to fill the void.

As much of my work has relied on social media, I tend to find myself on their much more than I'd like to be - and like many I'd fall down the cesspool of trauma, tragedy and drama - however, there was also something else starting to peak it's way through the muck and the mire of social media: Switzerland Travel.

I began seeing these beautiful images and videos of mountain villages and waterfalls. I knew at once that I needed to see them. I honestly didn't think about how that would happen. At the time no one I knew had traveled to Swizterland, and it frankly wasn't a place many people I knew were talking about visiting. I just kept seeing the waterfalls.

A very good friend of mine, who you'll see quite alot of over the next several videos was finishing law school and had decided that she too wanted to travel to Switzerland and began working with a travel agent named Kate (@meltedandmoved) on an itinerary that would take her through several cities in Switzerland and finally through Lake Como, Italy and ending in Milan. I knew I had to be on this trip.

So, after months of planning (and also purchasing a home - talk about taking on too much all at once) the days drew nearer. Coupled moving, having family in town right after and unpacking, I found myself simultaneously re-packing for the trip. I was quite a bit frantic about what to bring as I knew I'd be traveling around quite a bit and didn't want to burden myself down with luggage but I also needed to pack enough for nearly three weeks of travel from Geneva to Lausanne to Grindelwald (MOUNTAIN ADVENTURES) through Interlaken and eventually to Mennagio (on Lake Como) and finally Milan (one of the world's fashion capitals). Talk about stress...

But I did it. I did it all. I lived it up. I treated myself. I also healed myself --- or rather asked God for healing and for a new direction. Working in entertainment news has been a daily grind for the past 5 years, and I needed an extended break to determine what path lies ahead for me in terms of my career. I found the answers in these mountains...sitting in deep reflective thought in the saunas of luxury hotels...aboard long extravagant train rides, all while lugging around nearly 100 lbs of luggage (my suitcase itself was nearly 70 lbs). I left this trip fulfulled - and mentally, spiritually and physically stronger. I hope this series inspires you as much as I was inspired - and this motivates you to make your own travel plans or in some way shape or form find the courage to make that pivotal pivot that you know you've been needing to make.
