New, fast-changing digital and web-based formats continue to take market share from traditional media. This evolution poses a particular challenge to California's entertainment industry -- the world's largest -- and highlights the need for a workforce trained in the latest technologies. Maintaining California's leadership in entertainment production requires a robust supply of skilled workers with backgrounds in traditional education and STEM fields. They also must adapt to the rapid expansion into digital content. Preparing workers with the appropriate skills will require the coordinated efforts of employers, educators, nonprofits and government stakeholders. This panel will discuss the changing world of media and explore the workforce training deficits, demographic disparities, and opportunities for job creation that it presents.
