Men only get one X chromosome. Women get 2, which means they are often carriers of the color blind mutation, but rarely suffer from it, since their other X chromosome will dominate this deficiency.
Color blind is also a misleading name. Only about 1 in 50,000 people is truly color blind, meaning no color cells (cones) on their retina.
Most "color blind" people have trouble with reds and greens.
However, there are some jobs that you're not allowed to have because of color blindness: pilot being a major one.
