Volume 3 of my Making a Scene series is about how to make a stunning river canyon diorama. The step-by-step guide will show you exactly how I made this hyper-realistic looking model.

It involves modelling a narrow waterfall, creating rock cliffs (or canyon sides) with bark, making an epoxy resin river, and most notably building up layers of foliage to create an amazing, overgrown and mossy look.

Once again, Mod Podge and epoxy resin made for some amazing water effects, but for this model the focus was on the banks of the river - or rather the sides of the canyon. I was after a look of very dense green foliage without losing a sense of this being a rocky landscape. I achieved this by making vines and layering several grades of flock and ground foam. The ultra-real water effects play second fiddle to the greenery without being swamped and lost from view.

Although I called it 'Green Canyon', it isn't specifically THE Green Canyon in Turkey. Kind of looks similar, though.

This diorama took about 8 hours to build.

Thanks for watching. I hope you find it helpful, but most importantly I hope you enjoy it!

Many of the materials and tools I use come with safety instructions. Please always read and follow these rather than simply copy what you see me or other people doing.
